Josefa Llanes Escoda:Founder of GSP-Memorial Ceremony

Who is Josefa Llanes Escoda ? In the memorial ceremony, attended by the Executive Committee, like Tita Lety, Tita Reina, Tita Jaki and Tita Isobel (seen in the photos)  of the Bukidnon Council, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, it was celebrated with fondness, that Josefa Llanes Escoda was the first in a family of seven (7) children born to Gabriel Llanes and Mercedes Madamba on September 20, 1898. She was a consistent scholar, earned a Teacher’s certificate, an MA in Sociology and graduate credits in Social Work. Her career and social services included the American Red Cross, Leonard Wood Memorial, the Bureau of Health, National Federation of Women’s Clubs and the GIRL SCOUTS OF THE PHILIPPINES. She had Girl Scouting training in London and USA before she organized the Girl Scouting Movement in the Philippines in 1940.
